Four weeks before the Championships Lake Bled has hosted traditional May Regatta. Iztok Čop, one of the best world rowers, has after one year break returned to the first position and win in a single scull. After few years two Olympic medalists have rowed again – Milan Janša and Jani Klemenčič, who will now train to take part in the Championships.

During the Championships 32 students from Vocational college for catering and tourism Bled majoring in tourism will help in the Information Centre, Press area and at the airport. In addition 20 students majoring in catering will be working in VIP, press and FISA catering area.
