First Day Qualifying Blown Away

Today's qualifying for adaptive rowers was cancelled due to strong winds and was rescheduled for Friday. The morning will feature qualifying, the afternoon repechage races.

Among Slovenian crews the lightweight double scull with Matevz Malesic and Jure Cvet will be the first to start at 12.24. The Slovenian crew has no less than 23 opponents, their qualifying group consists of Italian crew (Daniele Gilardoni, Jose Casiraghi), Danish boat (Christian Nielsen, Sophus Johannesen), Polish boat (Mariusz Stanczuk, Bartlomiej Lesniak) and French crew (Jeremie Azou, Remi Di Girolamo). First two crews from each group advance to semifinals, others to repechage.

Next up for Slovenia are the coxless four, there are 13 boats to race in the qualifying. Slovenia's boat with brothers Pirih Ziga, Tomaz and Miha with Rok Kolander will start at 13.36, together with Italians (Romano Battisti, Francesco Fosssi, Sergio Canciani, Andrea Tranquilli), Canadians (Michael Wilkinson, Robert Gibson, Douglas Csima, Fraser Berkhout), Chinese (Liangliang Zhang, Fenghzi An, Kun Liu, Jie Yang) and Serbians (Milos Vasic, Goran Jagar, Miljan Vukovic, Radoje Djeric). First three boats from each group to semifinals, others into repechage.

There are nine quadruple sculls on start tomorrow, among them also a Slovenian crew with brothers Luka and Jan Spik, Andraz Krek and Gasper Fistravec, who will start at 14.12. Reigning world champions Poles (Konrad Wasielewski, Marek Kolbowicz, Michal Jelinski, Adam Korol) are also in the Slovenian qualifying group together with the Russians (Nikita Morgachev, Vladimir Volodenkov, Artem Kosov, Sergey Fedorovtsev) and the Belgian crew (Bram Dubois, Bart Poelvoorde, Tim Maeyens, Hannes De Reu). First and second from qualifying go to semifinals, the rest to repechage.
